About us
Daily Oracles is an independent UK publication explaining what is about to change in money, work, homes and public services, and what it will cost.
Daily Oracles is an independent publication for readers who like to know what is coming. Most news tells you what happened yesterday. We try to explain what happens next: the price change due in April, the network being switched off, the rule that starts next year, and who ends up paying for it.
We publish a small number of stories each morning, one for each of our sections, written to be read with a coffee rather than skimmed between notifications.
What you will find here
- Briefing for the explainers that touch almost everyone, from pension increases to how inflation is measured.
- Tech for the systems being replaced and what the change costs households and businesses.
- Companies for the decisions that shape wage bills, energy contracts and the cost of doing business.
- Markets & Money for interest rates, indices and the numbers that set tomorrow's prices.
- Property for the long-run costs of buying, owning and paying for local services.
- Westminster for how government budgets, taxes and legislates, explained without taking sides.
- Living for household bills and the regulators who set them.
- Wellbeing for how health services and treatments are paid for, drawn from official NHS and regulator sources.
How we report
Our stories rest on official publications, regulators, statistics bodies and reputable news organisations, and every story lists where its facts come from. We do not speculate about what named people or companies might do, and we do not publish rumour. Our editorial standards set out how we check facts, label paid-for content and put mistakes right.
