Editorial standards
How Daily Oracles checks facts, keeps commercial content separate, uses images and corrects mistakes.
These are the rules the Daily Oracles newsroom works to on every story we publish.
Facts and sources
A fact goes into a story only if it is backed by an official source, such as a government department, regulator, statistics body or the organisation's own announcement, or by at least two reputable news organisations. We list our sources at the end of every story. Where a figure is a forecast or an estimate, we say whose it is.
Looking ahead without guessing
Much of our work is about what happens next, so we take care to separate what has been decided from what has only been proposed. We describe timetables that have been set and the rules that govern them. We do not present predictions as facts.
Fairness
We write explainers, not accusations. We do not publish allegations about named people or companies, we do not quote people we have not heard from, and we cover politics by explaining how institutions work rather than by backing one side.
Health and money
Our Wellbeing and Markets & Money stories give general information only. They are not medical or financial advice for any individual, and health stories are based on official sources such as the NHS or published research.
Commercial content
Daily Oracles carries a small amount of paid-for and contributed material. It is always labelled "Sponsored" or "Contributed" above the headline and carries a note explaining who produced it. Commercial partners never see or influence stories written by the Daily Oracles News Team.
Pictures
We use photographs licensed through Unsplash and credit the photographer under each one. We avoid identifiable people in pictures that sit next to news, and we choose images that match the subject and the UK setting.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it the same day we confirm the error and add a note at the end of the story explaining what changed. To report a mistake, email info@dailyoracles.com with the link and the details.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with something we have published, write to info@dailyoracles.com with "Complaint" in the subject line. We reply to complaints within five working days.
