Privacy policy

What information Daily Oracles collects, which is very little, and how we handle it.

Daily Oracles is designed to collect as little about you as possible. This page explains the little we do hold.

Reading the site

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which stories they read. If you say yes, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google details of your visit, such as the pages you look at, the device and browser you use and your approximate location. If you say no, or do not answer, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

We remember your answer in your browser so you are not asked again on every page. You can change your mind at any time with the "Your cookie choice" link at the foot of every page. Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not run advertising networks, tracking pixels or social media widgets, and our fonts and images are served from our own server.

Like every website, our host records basic server logs, including IP addresses, the pages requested, the time and the type of browser. These logs are used only to keep the site secure and working, and they are deleted automatically after a short period.

Writing to us

When you email the newsroom we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use these only to reply, to follow up a story or to make a correction. We do not sell or share them, and we do not add you to any mailing list. We delete correspondence once we no longer need it.

Other websites

Our stories link to sources and other sites. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies.

Your rights

UK data protection law gives you the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. To ask, email info@dailyoracles.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Updates

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page.
